Philosophy of Living Life Everyday

We live a world that is running “wide open” all the time!!!  There was a day when restaurants, businesses, and televisions did not stay open or on twenty-four-seven.  They closed up at what was considered a reasonable hour.  Restaurants at 9 0’clock, if you had not had dinner by then, well it was too late to being eating and then going to bed think of all the weight you will gain. You should have already eaten so just go to bed hungry, you can make up for at breakfast.  Businesses closed too, some as early as 5 o’clock and on Wednesday they closed at 12 noon.  If you could not get your business done in regular “business” hours you had no business in that business anyway, good common sense huh?   And the television, well it went off after the “Tonight Show with Johnny Carson”.  Of course the flag of our great nation appeared and the national anthem was played and then came the snowy screen and that eerie sound and you better believe the television went off!!!  After all what decent person would be up at that hour of the night anyway???  You needed to be asleep in order to face the upcoming day. Remember when you had better gas up your vehicle before the holiday weekend because the “fillin’ stations” would be CLOSED over the holiday.   Now days they are open on the holiday and for that matter twenty four hours, they are even open on Christmas day, what is up with that?     My how times have changed, what use to be an oddity is now the normal and what is now the normal use to be the oddity.  Regardless there are some principles that will never change.  Life will still come at us and we will continue to react based upon our past life experiences and that which we have been taught.  And the greatest reality that we must remember is that the Devil, ole Lucifer, Satan, the Prince of this world, has an eye on us.  Of course the “us” I am referring to are the saved, the blood bought, the saints, and christians.  If are reading and do not view yourself as the saved, blood bought, saint or christian, and see yourself as a seeker, well just keep reading this is for you too!!!  Yes Lucifer is out to get us, no doubt misery loves company and he is miserable with his current state and only has misery to look forward to in his final state.  So he is on the prowl for all and any who will buy into his half truths and innuendos.  With this in mind I have some things I believe are worth remembering and living by, I call it “Philosophy of Living Life Everyday”.  Check it out and let me hear what you think.

Jeff

RECIPE FOR YOUTH

It is that time of year, graduation time.  Many young folks have taken that walk. A walk among many walks they will take, they are stepping out into another phase of life.  They are growing up or we could say they, like we, like ME, are getting old.  Job said, “Man that is born of a women is  of few days, and full of trouble.”  Job 14:1.  In other words you are getting old and look out, some tough days are ahead.  Of course for him, Job, there were tough days, tougher than I ever want to see!!!  But regardless we all have difficulties.  The end result of our difficulties is determined by the way we handle that which comes our way.

In my love for “order” in my life I like recipes, if you do this, this, and this; this is what you will get.  Guarantees, definite results, I love the promises.  Brother Peter gives us one of these “recipes” in II Peter 1:2-11.  Check out what Peter says, it will give you energy, hope and the ablity to endure.  I promise (see there I go making promises, I told you I liked “order”) in the future we will take a closer look at Peter’s recipe given at the beginning of his second letter.

Since our graduates are pondering, contemplating and planning, I have a recipe for them, “A Recipe For Life”.  I challenge you all to give it a try.  Take all the ingredients and put them together and see if you add a little sweetness to your life.  Even if you are not a recent graduate the challenge is your’s too.  Give it a try!!!

Live Faithful,

Jeff

The Adopted One

God’s adopted one,

Here I am!!!

Though I am technologically challenged I have finally found where I am supposed to write. I have reached the point where I have a blog. I am impressed with the fact that there are those who think I have something worth while to say and further more that there are those who think I have the capability to put it in writing for the world to see. Thank you for that vote of confidence. So here goes!!!!

As I begin let me give you fair warning, I am crazy about Tammy to the point I will die for her. In case you are wondering, she’s my “first” wife, she rolls her eyes every time I introduce her that way, but if you follow along with me you will find that I love talking about her!!! And well there are others you will hear about. You will hear about Ellie, she’s our daughter and she RULES!!! Really, she does, we are so fortunate to have her and we love being in Ellie’s world and she lets us in frequently. Some others you will hear about, my mom and dad, Ruth and Bobby. The title of my blog is rooted in them, YES, I am adopted and proud of it!!! Momma and Daddy have gone on to the other side, Daddy died in 1990 and Momma in 2004. I am anxiously awaiting the reunion, what a day that will be!!! You will hear about the two dogs who live at the house, Peanut and Harley, both are hand-me-downs. Peanut is a seventeen pound “tea-cup” chihuahua and oh yeah he is albino too. Then there is Harley, sweet, shy and a tiny Pomeranian, she is getting old but loves being the baby. And more than likely you will hear a lot about my spiritual family. The good folks at the Fayetteville church of Christ in Fayetteville Georgia. They are some of the greatest folks on God’s earth and I count in a privilege to be there friend, brother, and preacher.  So thanks for getting started with me on this new journey of Blogging.

I am adopted and proud of it but more than being adopted into the Wilder family I am honored to be adopted into God’s Family. This adoption is the real reason for my blog site name.  Take a look at what brother Paul said to the churches of Galatia.

“But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law. To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant but a son; and if a son then an heir of God through Christ.”
Galatians 4: 4-7

I am an adopted son of God and that is what we are to be all about. So as we journey together in this new world of blogging, it will be humbly under the pretense of being an adopted child of God.

Stick with me I promise it will give it all I’ve got and perhaps we can grow up together and be more like our Father everyday.

Live Faithful,
Jeff
